Icons in the list (globe or folder) offer many options (click, right-clik, ctrl-click, ctrl-shift-click)

Icon types

There are two types of icons
a. globe icon. It indicates that the reference has a weblink. If the reference was fetched from pubmed, then this will link to the reference of pubmed website. It there is no PMID, but a webite reference in the 'notes' section, then this will link to that website.

  • Click opens the reference from Pubmed website in a taskpane
  • Shift-click or Double-click opens the reference from Pubmed in external default browser
  • Ctrl-Click opens the reference using custom string in a taskpane. The custom string can be changed in ‘Options’ tab. This can e.g. be used to open the reference at Pubmed site with your university link.
  • Ctrl-Shit-Click opens the reference using custom string in external default browser.
  • Right-click opens shortcut menu (as below)

b. folder icon- indicates that there is pdf file in the reference folder associated with this reference.

  • Click opens the pdf/html in parallel taskpane
  • Shift-click or Double-click opens the pdf/html in external program
  • Right-click opens shortcut menu (as below)

c. These icons can be turned on/off by the (1) icon on the toolbar. The software automatically looks in the reference subfolder to find pdf files associated with the reference. Also looks for PMID or website address to generate the globe icon
